FAQ's
My dog isn't great with other dogs, would you still walk them?
Yes! We specialise in 1:1 dog walks so your dog wont be around a group of other dogs when out exploring. We take care to ensure we visit quiet areas where close contact with other dogs can be avoided or managed in way that is safe and best for your furry friend. This is something we would discuss before a walk.
Do you clean my dog after a walk?
Yes! Being in rainy Devon sometimes means mud and water cant be avoided. We have basic cleaning equipment in our vehicle which is great for cleaning muddy paws, floppy ears and bellies! We don't fully bath or shampoo dogs.
How do I pay?
Payment is required at time of collection in full.
Do you offer group walks?
No. Hounds on Tor specialises in 1:1 sessions making it ideal for sensitive dogs.
Do you walk reactive dogs?
Yes! Our 1:1 solo walks are ideal for dogs who lack confidence and are unsure. Before walking your dog we would need to discuss your dogs triggers to ensure their walk is tailored to their specific needs in keeping with their normal routine and safety.
Where will you walk my dog?
We walk in nearby forests, woods and parks. Ultimately we choose the best place for your dog! Our goal is to ensure your dog has a walk of a dream whilst being kept safe.
My dog doesn't have very good recall, would you still walk them?
Yes! I would still love to walk your dog however if they don't have reliable recall we would lead walk to ensure the dog is never put in harms way. This doesn't mean they cant have a proper explore as we can use long training leads to give them freedom of movement without the risk of running away! We also advise they wear a harness as collars can slip off.
Do you use a extendable lead?
No. Due to safety reasons we never use extendable (flexi type) leashes during lead walks. We use HALTI 2m Leads and long line training leads.
Do you walk older dogs?
Yes! We provide our services for older dogs of all shapes and sizes. If your dog would be better suited to a certain environment please let us know and we can accommodate.
Can you walk two of my dogs?
Yes! We offer a 2:1 service for dogs who are from the same household and are happy to be together.
Do you walk Puppies?
Yes! We provide our services to puppies providing they are at least 10 months old and are fully vaccinated.
